Installation and selection of soundproof panels

April 20th at 2:24pm

In order to achieve good sound insulation, the installation method of sound insulation boards must be very simple, otherwise it is also difficult to achieve the ideal sound insulation effect. Professional acoustic engineers are well aware that if a wall can be soundproof by X decibels when tested in the laboratory, it can often only be soundproof by X-2 decibels in actual engineering, and even has a lower soundproof effect. There are two main reasons why the sound insulation value of walls in actual engineering is lower than the laboratory test value: including the lateral sound transmission problem in actual engineering, and the installation quality of wall panels in actual engineering is not as good as that of professionals in the laboratory.

Therefore, the installation of sound insulation panels must be simple, otherwise on-site installation personnel will definitely make mistakes, resulting in the wall's sound insulation value not meeting the sound insulation target. For example, elastic horizontal bars were often used in the United States as a good sound insulation method and product. Using elastic horizontal bars in the laboratory can improve the sound insulation effect of lightweight gypsum board walls by 5-10 decibels. However, in practical engineering, installation workers often cannot accurately install the board on the elastic horizontal bars, resulting in limited improvement in the actual sound insulation effect of the wall. Therefore, in recent years, the United States has gradually abandoned this wall sound insulation technology and means.

The most important thing when choosing a soundproof board is to check if it has a testing report. Any board (material) can be called a soundproof board (material), but the sound insulation effect of various materials (boards) varies greatly, and you have no way to distinguish its performance when purchasing soundproof boards. You must wait until the construction is completed to feel its sound insulation effect. If the sound insulation effect is not good after the construction is completed, a lot of money, time, and energy have been wasted.

So when choosing a soundproof board, it is important to check if it has an authoritative laboratory test report.
